What are we learning in Quarter 1?

Pre-K: Students will be participating in movement activities that expand their vocabulary: zigzag, straight, around, fast/slow, back and forth.

Kindergarten: Students will be exploring forces and motion by observing the positions and motions of objects and organisms.

1st Grade:  Students will be learning even more about forces of motion.  They will explore how pushes and pulls affect the motion of an object.

2nd Grade: Students will further their understanding of forces and motion by exploring sound and vibrating objects.

3rd Grade: Students will learn about the structures and functions of living organisms.  They will discover how the muscular, skin, and skeletal systems are essential for life.  Students will also investigate the three properties of matter.

4th Grade: Students will focus on molecular biology and the importance of food, vitamins, minerals, and exercise.  Additionally, students will begin their forces and motion unit, investigating magnets and electrical charges.

5th Grade: Students will investigate the structures and functions of living organisms and their characteristics.  They will explore a more in depth study of the human body (digestive, respiratory, circulatory, muscular, skeletal, and cardiovascular systems).
